Title : Lithological control on phytolith carbon sequestration in moso bamboo forests
Journal : Scientific Reports
Comment : Phytolith-occluded carbon (PhytOC) is a stable carbon (C) fraction that has effects on long-term global C balance. Phytoliths can be stored steadily in soils and sediments after decomposition of plant residues. Dramatic differences exist in phytolith and PhytOC content within moso bamboo of different age and soil parent material. The general decreasing trend of phytolith contents from top to bottom leaves is mainly the result of reduced transpiration and SiO2 deposition flux from top to bottom leaves.
